The incorporation of baculovirus into semi-synthetic diets has been used for the inoculation of large batches of insect larvae reared under gregarious conditions. The preparation of most artificial diets involves heating to dissolve the agar gelling agent followed by cooling to ~55–60°C whereupon virus occlusion bodies (OBs) are incorporated into the diet. To avoid exposure of thermolabile OBs to high temperatures, a cool-textured diet using soy fiber was evaluated as a simple method to inoculate batches of larvae with the baculovirus OBs. Spodoptera exigua larvae that fed on a diet with 120, 140 or 160?g/l of soy fiber, as a substitute for agar, had a similar weight gain over a 24?h period than larvae that consumed a standard agar diet. The larval weight gain with cool-textured diets with 140?g/l of soy fiber was not improved by the addition of chlorophyll, green food dye colour, or by the removal of ascorbic acid, sodium benzoate and potassium sorbate. Preliminary tests performed to determine the optimal OBs concentration needed for the inoculation of groups of four instar larvae in agar and soy fiber diets revealed no virus inactivation in heated diets with a similar optimal concentration of 36?OBs?mg?1 for both diets. Moreover, no significant differences were observed in OB production when each type of diet was used to inoculate groups of 250 larvae reared gregariously in plastic containers. Cool-textured diets could be of interest for the production of baculoviruses that require a diet that can be prepared quickly and easily.  相似文献

Zinc distribution in the small-intestinal digesta was studied in pigs fed a skim milk powder (SMP)-based or defatted soybean flour (DSF)-based diet. Ten pigs were fed experimental diets for 30 d. Serum and femoral zinc concentrations were lower in the DSF group than in the SMP group, suggesting the lower zinc availability in the DSF diet than in the SMP diet. In the digesta of small intestine, zinc solubility was higher in the SMP group than in the DSF group. A gel permeation high-performance liquid chromatography showed that the SMP group exhibited four zinc peaks in the chromatogram of the supernatant of digesta. The chromatogram in the DSF group showed four zinc peaks corresponding to those of the SMP group. However, the first zinc peak was smaller and the second peak was larger in the DSF group than in the SMP group. Dietary treatment did not affect the other peaks of zinc. Although the high solubility of zinc in the digesta of SMP group is considered to result in the high availability of zinc, the difference of zinc distribution in the liquid phase of digesta may partly affect zinc availability.  相似文献

Stingless honey bees form a large group of bees that lack of a sting and are found among Meliponinae species indigenous to various tropical and subtropical regions. They are able to produce “stingless bee honey” that contains divergent categories of phenolic and flavonoid compounds and have been associated with antioxidant and antibacterial activity. This study examines the physicochemical properties, antioxidant-activity and anti-microbial activity of stingless bee honey from Malaysia that was produced by Geniotrigona thoracica, Heterotrigona itama and Heterotrigona erythrogastra. The results show that G. thoracica honey has the highest concentration of the total phenolic context (99.04?±?5.14?mg/ml) and the greatest reducing power (19.05?±?0.79%), while flavonoids (17.67?±?0.75?mg/ml), reducing power (18.10?±?0.35%), DPPH (47.40?±?3.18%) and FRAP (50.66?±?5.77?mM of Fe2+/100?g) of H. itama honey is significantly higher than those of the other honeys. In addition, G. thoracica honey has the highest antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus xylosus (2.10?±?0.10?cm), which is Gram-positive bacterium, and against Pseudomonas aeruginosa (1.60?±?0.10?cm) and Vibrio parahaemolyticus (2.03?±?0.06?cm), which are Gram-negative bacteria. These results suggest that stingless bee honeys possess useful amounts of phenolic and flavonoid compounds that are able to act as natural anti-oxidants and also have significant anti-microbial activity.  相似文献

通过模拟南京地区自然光中有效紫外线B和紫外线A辐射,增大辐射剂量对大豆光合作用,生长及生物量形成的影响迸行了研究。3个加强的UV辐射(0.15,0.35,0.70W·m-2)处理均使大豆植株矮化,抑制根、茎、叶的生长及干物质的积累。在3个UV处理中,生物效应以0.70W·m-2处理力最大,0.15W·m-2处理影响最小。UV辐射匀能使大豆叶片光合作用下降。下降幅度随UV辐射强度的增大而增大,本文还对UV影响大豆生长的可能机制进行了探讨。  相似文献

用~(60)Co—γ—射线以不同剂量(30,50,70,90万拉德)照射瓶装酱油,然后对酱油中细菌总数及总酸和氨基酸态氮进行分析。结果证明:γ—射线具有良好的杀菌作用,剂量30万拉德已能使细菌总数降低到标准含量以下。而各个剂量的γ—照射对总酸及氨基酸态氮的数值几乎没有影响。  相似文献

This paper promotes the biometric classification system of plant cultivars, unique characteristics, in terms of the uranium (U) uptake, primarily in the function of the application for phytoremediation. It is known that the degree of adoption of U depends on the plant species and its morphological and physiological properties, but it is less known what impact have plants cultivars, sorts, and hybrids. Therefore, we investigated the U adoption in four cultivars of three plant species (corn, sunflower and soy bean). “Vegetation experiments were carried out in a plastic-house filled with soil (0.66 mgU) and with tailing (15.3 mgU kg?1) from closed uranium mine Gabrovnica-Kalna southeast of Serbia”. Principal Component Analysis (PCA), Cluster Analysis (CA) and analysis of variance (ANOVA) were used for assessing the effect of different substrates cultivars, plant species and plant organs (root or shoot) on U uptake. Obtained results showed that a difference in U uptake by three investigated plant species depends not only of the type of substrate types and plant organs but also of their cultivars. Biometrics techniques provide a good opportunity for a better understanding the behavior of plants and obtaining much more useful information from the original data.  相似文献

The color of soy sauce is considered to be mainly attributable to melanoidins formed by the Maillard reaction. However, the chemical structure of melanoidins cannot be clarified, because melanoidins are high-molecular-weight heterogeneous polymers. We isolated a low-molecular-weight pigment from soy sauce and identified 2,4-dihydroxy-2,5-dimethyl-3(2H)-thiophenone as this pigment formed by the Maillard reaction, although its contribution to the total color of soy sauce was very low.  相似文献

We compared the effects of the S-enantiomer and racemic forms of equol on bone using ovariectomized (OVX) mice. Femoral bone mineral density and bone strength decreased in the OVX mice, but not in OVX mice administered 0.5 mg/d S-equol. This, however, did not hold for racemic equol. Serum and urine S-equol concentrations were higher in the mice administered S-equol than in those administered racemic equol. These results suggest that the inhibitory effects of S-equol on bone fragility in OVX mice are greater than those of racemic equol.  相似文献

Hyperglycemia has been assumed to be responsible for oxidative stress in diabetes. In this respect, glucose autoxidation and advanced glycation end products (AGE) may play a causal role in the etiology of diabetic complications as e.g. atherosclerosis. There is now growing evidence that the oxidative modification of LDL plays a potential role in atherogenesis. Glucose derived oxidants have been shown to peroxidise LDL. In the present study, genistein, a compound derived from soy with a flavonoid chemical structure (4′, 5, 7-trihydroxyisoflavone) has been evaluated for its ability to act as an antioxidant against the atherogenic modification of LDL by glucose autoxidation radical products. Daidzein, (4′, 7-dihydroxyisoflavone) an other phytoestrogen of soy, was tested in parallel. Genistein — in contrast to daidzein — effectively prevented the glucose mediated LDL oxidation as measured by thiobarbituric acid-reactive substance formation (TBARS), alteration in electrophoretic mobility, lipid hydroperoxides and fluorescence quenching of tryptophan residues of the lipoprotein. In addition the potential of glucose-oxidized LDL to increase tissue factor (TF) synthesis in human endothelial cells (HUVEC) was completely inhibited when genistein was present during LDL oxidative modification by glucose. Both phytoestrogens did not influence the nonenzymatic protein glycation reaction as measured by the in vitro formation of glycated LDL. As the protective effect of genistein on LDL atherogenic modification was found at glucose/genistein molar ratios which may occur in vivo, our findings support the suggested beneficial action of a soy diet in preventing chronic vascular diseases and early atherogenic events.  相似文献
